You could almost say that property defects are shaking up the real estate world.
This is an area we have always dealt with in our office, but only in a handful
of cases a year. Over the last two years, however, we have had a new case
roughly every month, sometimes even more.
There are several reasons for this, but the main one is the rising price of
property. When you pay tens of millions for a house or a flat, you expect
everything to be in order. The tolerance for defects is then logically much
lower and the willingness to address them much higher.
Because dealing with defects is highly specific, and the wrong approach can even
mean losing the ability to pursue your claims, we have prepared this article. It
summarises the basics of the whole topic without unnecessary frills.
